It is a being of stunning grace that stands before you now. Her hair is fine like silk, pale as the winter sun and highlighted with streaks of lavender dye made from crushed berries. Her eyes fix on you beautiful, pearlescent orbs of pale sage and you realize you cannot make out any pupils. She smiles, you think, the expression is too faint to be sure. Even her mouth seems to shimmer with a soft glossy pink. Her ears are long, ending in perfect points. By now you know. She is Eladrin, a race not unlike the elves, though far more elusive and magical. Feared by some, respected by many, their world and yours only brush along the edges at twilight. Some of her kind choose to spend more time in this world than others. Her clothing speaks of Celtic tribes. Across her shoulders is a thick fur, perhaps a wolf or gray fox. The simple linens of her gown fold neatly under a corseted overskirt. A loose belt hangs to one side of her hips, a slim longsword and a leather pouch attached to it. She smells faintly of flowers. If you could hear her mind, what would it tell you? Perhaps she would say, I am a witch.
Or rather, that is what they called me. Would you call me thus, as well? My brother Adien fumes at such ignorance, but I instead find it saddening. Perhaps it is the practices of evil warlocks that earn any magic-user such a bitter name. I feel guilt for teaching those children what I did. They were so pure and innocent. They wanted only to explore a beautiful world that they saw. There were no hateful schemes or lofty goals driving them, they were too young for such ambitions. But what I sought to share of my magic in the Feywild with an open heart turned sour quickly. The human village was ripped asunder by a witch hunt, children murdered by means of dangling by their necks, and their father too, for the crime of protecting them. Their mother, left with nothing, threw herself off the cliffs into the sea. All this, because of me? Yes, perhaps I am a witch. My family presses me to return to our peaceful city at the edge of the Feywild. Someday, I will come home. Adien will wait, in time he will forgive my stubborn heart. I will not let hate consume me, rather I will fight against it and the pain it causes to others, always. These things I cannot tell you at length now. If you call evil and ignorance your enemy, and your cause is noble, then in time you shall know me. I go now into the thick of this war-torn world, perhaps with you?
Yet you hear nigh but the soft wind through the grass as her smile becomes more substantial. She bows her head lightly. I am Ehnya. It is good to know you, friend.

My first character made for 4E Dungeons & Dragons, an Eladrin wizard. The campaign is a typical high-fantasy D&D style, but set in medieval Europe. It's quite interesting. I wrote a short introduction to her in fiction form both for myself (as I've missed writing) and also for the DM, so he could get a feel for her character.
After today's session he asked me if I would draw everyone's character, since he'd already seen the beginnings of this. I agreed, of course. So this is the first in an ongoing series for what is looking to be the most enjoyable campaign I have ever been a part of.
Ehnya Ilreth, art, backstory and writing are copyright me. Eladrin (a new elf-like race of 4E) copyright Wizards of the Coast.
I havent done an D&D session in quite a while after our first campaign ended and we have now grouped back up and are now creating ideas on what our next one should be. All we have now is that the next campaign takes place at least 5years after the first campaign. Oh, yea my D&D character is an elven ranger named Madrill. So, I have been playing for years now and he is insanely strong. Anyways, great artwork, keep it up and good luck in future campaigns.

I like your illustrative style and the backstory made for an enjoyable read as well. Always nice to see depth to characters.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
